Every portable restroom rental service, one phone number

Jacksonville's temporary restroom work follows its calendar and its ground. Construction runs most of the year, and the mild, dry stretch from January to February is the busiest for outdoor job sites. Spring brings festivals and the Gate River Run in March. Summer heat from June through September changes how often a unit needs attention, and storm season, which NOAA places from June through November, can mean units are pulled before a storm and placed again afterward.

Choose by the job rather than by the unit name. A standard portable toilet is the basic single unit for a yard, a block party or a small crew. ADA accessible units need a firm, level pad and an accessible route to reach them. Restroom trailers with running-water sinks suit longer or larger events, and hand-wash stations matter most when a crew works through hot afternoons with no shade.

Construction sites follow the OSHA table in 29 CFR 1926.51(c)(1). For 20 or fewer workers, one facility is the minimum. Above that, the table sets one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers, and at 200 or more, one per 50. Read the construction site toilet guide before you settle a count, since OSHA's interpretation letters treat a toilet as provided only if an employee can reach it in less than ten minutes, and an unsanitary unit does not count toward the minimum.

Events are planned differently. Any event of 500 or more people, counting workers, participants and spectators, needs a Special Event Permit from the city's Office of Special Events, and smaller events in a park may need a JaxParks Special Use permit. Jacksonville publishes no portable-restroom ratio for events, so the count is planned from the ADA guidance and confirmed with that office. The event permit guide lays out the tracks and the filing window.

Florida sets its own rule for the companies that service units. Fla. Admin. Code R. 62-6.0101, administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, requires persons who service portable restrooms and holding tanks to hold an annual operating permit. Ask the company that takes your call to show its current permit before a unit is placed. The Florida rules guide covers the detail.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which unit should a job site order?

One facility meets the minimum for a crew of 20 or fewer under the OSHA table, but the count rises with the crew and the length of the job. Say how many people will use the site each day, how far the crew works from the unit, and whether the ground is level, so the count and placement can be set on the call.

Do you offer accessible units?

Yes. The common ADA guidance is that at least 5 percent of a cluster of single-user portable toilets be accessible, with no fewer than one per cluster. That is guidance, not a Jacksonville requirement, since the city publishes no ratio of its own. An accessible unit needs a firm, level pad and an accessible route to it.

How does the heat affect servicing?

The 1991-2020 normal July average high at the National Weather Service in Jacksonville is 91.9 degrees, and recent Julys have run hotter. Units in full sun get hot quickly, and heat makes the chemical work harder, so servicing is often more frequent from June through September. The interval is agreed for each site.

Is servicing part of a rental?

Yes. Servicing during the rental is part of the job, and the schedule is agreed when the unit is booked. Heavy use, summer heat and a large crew all call for more visits than a quiet site needs. On a construction site, servicing is also a compliance question, because a unit in unsanitary condition does not count toward the OSHA minimum.
